Research Goals

The overarching goal for our lab is to understand how niche architecture affects stem cell and tissue function, activity, and maturation. To do this, we study the formation of the mammalian intestinal stem cell niche, called the crypt. We employ mouse genetics, whole-mount imaging, organoid culture, and transcriptome analysis to understand how crypts form, how they achieve their stereotypic shape, and the signals they receive to adopt and maintain their shape.
